This easy and delicious casserole is a family favorite! It’s like a giant pizza baked in a casserole dish, perfect for a weeknight meal or a casual gathering.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (15 ounce) can pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped pepperoni (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped green olives (optional)
Instructions:
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain off any excess grease.
- Sauté vegetables: Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Combine ingredients: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare the casserole dish: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer the ingredients: Top with half of the cooked beef mixture, then sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, pepperoni (if using), and green olives (if using). Repeat layers.
