This easy and delicious casserole is a family favorite! It’s like a hearty pizza in a baked dish, perfect for a weeknight meal or a casual gathering.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (1 ounce) packet Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 8 ounces rotini pasta, cooked and drained
Instructions:
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain off any excess grease.
- Sauté vegetables: Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Combine sauce: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
- Prepare the casserole: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and parsley.
- Assemble the casserole: Spread half of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with the pasta mixture. Pour the remaining meat sauce over the pasta.
- Bake: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese over the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
