Cheesy Beef and Mashed Potato Bake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain the water, mash the potatoes with milk and butter until smooth, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until softened.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, peas (if using), paprika, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef layer, smoothing them out to cover the entire surface.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the mashed potatoes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
