A hearty and satisfying meal, this cheeseburger pie combines the classic flavors of a cheeseburger with the comfort of a pie.
Ingredients:
- Crust:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3-4 tablespoons cold water
- Filling:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
- Make the crust: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add water, mixing until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat. Add onion and garlic powder, cook until softened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the pie: Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the meat mixture into the crust. Combine ketchup, mustard, and cheese. Pour over the meat mixture.
- Top and bake: Cut the remaining dough into strips. Weave the strips over the filling in a lattice pattern. Crimp the edges of the crust. Brush the top with beaten egg. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let it cool: Let the pie cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
