Cheese Stuffed Flatbread Recipe

A delicious and customizable flatbread recipe filled with melted cheese. Perfect for a quick and easy meal or appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough: In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast mixture. Add the olive oil and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.  
  5. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, and basil.
  6. Roll and fill: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Spread the melted butter over the dough.
  7. Top with filling: Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  8. Fold and bake: Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal. Cut the dough into 8 wedges.
  9. Bake: Place the wedges on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  10. Serve: Serve immediately while warm.

Optional: Add your favorite toppings, such as pepperoni, mushrooms, or spinach.
