Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Add cheese: After the first rise, punch down the dough and knead in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan.
  6. Shape the dough: Shape the dough into a loaf or rolls and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Second rise: Cover again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Brush with milk: Before baking, brush the top of the dough with milk for a golden finish.
  10. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Cool: Let the bread cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious, cheesy creation!
