Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup melted butter or oil
- 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped chives or green onions if using.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.
