Cheese Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup melted butter or oil
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives or green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped chives or green onions if using.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.
