Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1/4 tsp paprika or cayenne pepper (optional, for a slight kick)
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and paprika or cayenne if using.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it’s well coated with the flour mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
