A decadent dessert with a rich caramel base, a creamy chocolate layer, and a crunchy biscuit topping. Perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
For the Caramel Base:
- 1 cup (200g) caster sugar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
- 1/2 cup (120ml) cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
For the Chocolate Layer:
- 1 cup (200g) dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup (120ml) cream
For the Biscuit Base:
- 1 cup (120g) digestive biscuits, crushed
- 1/4 cup (60g) melted butter
Instructions:
Make the Caramel Base:
- Caramelize the Sugar: In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and turns golden brown.
- Add Cream and Butter: Carefully pour in the cream, be cautious as it may bubble vigorously. Stir until the caramel is smooth.
- Cool the Caramel: Remove from heat and stir in the butter. Let it cool slightly.
Make the Chocolate Layer:
- Melt the Chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate with the cream over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth.
Assemble the Slice:
- Prepare the Base: In a greased baking dish, press the crushed biscuits mixed with melted butter to form the base.
- Add the Layers: Pour the cooled caramel over the biscuit base, then spread the chocolate layer on top.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until firm.
- Cut and Serve: Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Tips:
- For a richer caramel flavor, use dark brown sugar.
- To make the slices easier to cut, chill them for a longer period.
- You can customize this recipe by adding nuts, dried fruits, or other flavorings to the caramel or chocolate layers.
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with a higher cocoa content.
Enjoy this delicious treat with a cup of coffee or tea!
