Ingredients
For the Cake Batter:
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or two 9-inch round pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Gradually add the sugar and continue beating until the mixture is thick and pale.
- Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
