- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup toffee bits (like Heath bits)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix the base: In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a thick dough forms.
- Press into pan: Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Top it: Sprinkle the chocolate chips and toffee bits evenly over the dough. If using nuts, add them now as well.
- Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Cool completely: Let the bars cool in the pan before cutting into squares or bars.
