Cake Beraouinse

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk or yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon or orange (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and citrus zest if using.
  5. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk or yogurt until you get a smooth batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar or glaze if desired. Slice and enjoy!
