Butter Cookies


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (90g) powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or almond extract for variation)
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg yolk and vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in the flour and salt, then gently fold until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip (or roll into small balls).
  6. Pipe or place cookies onto the baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
