Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Water (for sealing edges)
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Prepare the filling:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and green chili, sauté until onions turn soft.
- Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Add mashed potatoes and mix well.
- Stir in lemon juice and chopped coriander. Let it cool.
- Prepare the bread rolls:
- Take a slice of bread, trim the edges, and slightly dampen it with water.
- Place a small portion of the potato mixture in the center.
- Gently roll and seal the edges, making sure no filling comes out.
- Fry the rolls:
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Carefully drop the rolls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve:
- Serve hot with ketchup, chutney, or yogurt dip.
