Bread Roll recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Water (for sealing edges)
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
    • Add chopped onions and green chili, sauté until onions turn soft.
    • Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
    • Add mashed potatoes and mix well.
    • Stir in lemon juice and chopped coriander. Let it cool.
  2. Prepare the bread rolls:
    • Take a slice of bread, trim the edges, and slightly dampen it with water.
    • Place a small portion of the potato mixture in the center.
    • Gently roll and seal the edges, making sure no filling comes out.
  3. Fry the rolls:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
    • Carefully drop the rolls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve hot with ketchup, chutney, or yogurt dip.
