Ingredients
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for a slightly sweet bread)
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm milk (or water)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter
- Optional toppings: sesame seeds, herbs, garlic butter
Instructions
- Mix the dough – In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add warm milk and oil, then mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead briefly – Knead for about 1–2 minutes until smooth. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle in a little extra flour.
- Divide and shape – Cut the dough into 4–6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into a round disc (about 1 cm thick).
- Cook on the stovetop – Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Place the dough rounds in the pan (no oil needed) and cover with a lid. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Serve – Brush with butter or garlic butter if desired, sprinkle with herbs or sesame seeds, and enjoy warm.
If you’d like, I can also give you a stuffed cheese & herb version of this bread so it turns into a gooey snack. That would make it even more irresistible.
