Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, add flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, egg, and butter.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes (or use a mixer with a dough hook) until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf (or rolls). Place into a greased loaf pan or baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown on top.
- Brush with melted butter after baking for extra softness.
- Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy fluffy, homemade bread! 🍞
