Ingredients
- Eggs (as many as you like)
- Water
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a saucepan in a single layer.
- Fill the saucepan with enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch.
- Add a pinch of salt if you like (this can help prevent cracking and make peeling easier).
- Place the pan on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the water to a boil.
- Once boiling, cover the pan with a lid, turn off the heat, and let the eggs sit for:
- Soft-boiled: 4–6 minutes
- Medium-boiled: 7–9 minutes
- Hard-boiled: 10–12 minutes
- When done, carefully drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes.
- Gently crack and peel the shells.
- Enjoy as is, or season with salt and pepper!
If you’d like, I can write a version for steamed or instant pot boiled eggs too — just ask!
