Boil the Corn Silk, Drink Liquid and You Will Be Grateful

Ingredients

  • Fresh corn silk from 2–4 ears of organic corn (waxy dent corn if available)
  • 3 cups of water
  • Optional: A slice of fresh ginger or a teaspoon of honey for flavor

Instructions

  1. Remove the fresh corn silk from the corn. Rinse it gently under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  3. Add the cleaned corn silk (and ginger if using) to the boiling water.
  4. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and strain the liquid into a mug or jar.
  6. Sweeten with honey if desired.
  7. Sip warm. Store any leftover tea in the fridge and reheat as needed.

Tip:
While waxy dent corn is mainly valued for thickening food or industrial uses, its silk makes a gentle tea enjoyed in folk medicine for generations.
