Ingredients
- Fresh corn silk from 2–4 ears of organic corn (waxy dent corn if available)
- 3 cups of water
- Optional: A slice of fresh ginger or a teaspoon of honey for flavor
Instructions
- Remove the fresh corn silk from the corn. Rinse it gently under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Add the cleaned corn silk (and ginger if using) to the boiling water.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and strain the liquid into a mug or jar.
- Sweeten with honey if desired.
- Sip warm. Store any leftover tea in the fridge and reheat as needed.
Tip:
While waxy dent corn is mainly valued for thickening food or industrial uses, its silk makes a gentle tea enjoyed in folk medicine for generations.
