Ingredients
- Eggs (as many as you like)
- Water
- Salt (optional)
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a saucepan in a single layer.
- Fill the saucepan with enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch.
- Add a pinch of salt if you like (helps prevent cracking).
- Place the pan on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the water to a gentle boil.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, cover the pan with a lid, turn off the heat, and let the eggs sit for:
- Soft-boiled: 4–6 minutes
- Medium-boiled: 7–9 minutes
- Hard-boiled: 10–12 minutes
- When the time is up, drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Let them cool for 5–10 minutes.
- Gently crack the shells and peel.
