Ingredients

  • Fritter Batter:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • For Frying:
  • Oil, for deep frying
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk and vanilla. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  2. Heat the Oil:
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large pot or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the Fritters:
Using a spoon or small scoop, carefully drop dollops of batter into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the fritters and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Glaze the Fritters:
Drizzle or dip each fritter in the glaze while still warm. Let the glaze set for a few minutes, then enjoy!

Serve these delicious Big Apple Fritters warm and enjoy!
