Bicolor Croissants 🥰

Description:
Bicolor croissants are beautiful, bakery-style pastries made with two colors of laminated dough. They are crispy and flaky on the outside and soft, buttery, and airy on the inside. These croissants look elegant and are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or special occasions. The two-tone design makes them very eye-catching and perfect for serving guests. You can fill them with chocolate, cream, or enjoy them plain with coffee or tea.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 200 g cold butter (for laminating)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder (for chocolate dough)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add warm milk and softened butter, then knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into two parts. Mix cocoa powder into one part to make chocolate dough.
  4. Cover and let both doughs rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the plain dough and place cold butter in the center, then fold and roll several times to create layers.
  6. Roll out both doughs thinly and place the chocolate dough on top of the plain dough.
  7. Cut the dough into triangles and roll each triangle into a croissant shape.
  8. Place on a baking tray and let them proof for 30–40 minutes.
  9. Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden.

Tips:

  • Keep the butter cold while laminating to create flaky layers.
  • Chill the dough if it becomes too soft while rolling.
  • Use good quality butter for the best flavor.
  • You can add chocolate filling or almond cream for extra taste.
  • Let the croissants cool slightly before serving for the perfect texture. 🥐
