Ingredients
- 3 large potatoes
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely.
- Place the grated potatoes in a bowl of cold water and rinse well to remove excess starch.
- Drain and squeeze out as much water as possible using a clean kitchen towel.
- Mix the Batter:
- In a large bowl, add the grated potatoes, crack in the egg, and add the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
- Mix everything together until well combined.
- Shape and Fry:
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Take a small handful of the potato mixture and press it together to form small flat patties or rough chips.
- Carefully place them into the hot oil.
- Fry for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Serve:
- Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Season with extra salt if desired and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
