Instructions

  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.

  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, sour cream, and strawberry puree.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk mixture. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  8. If using, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve the desired pink hue.
  9. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Prepare the Frosting:
  13. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
  14. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  15. Mix in the strawberry puree, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
