INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) white sugar
- 1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add eggs and vanilla, beating until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
- Scoop dough by rounded tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
