This one-pan Beef & Cabbage Rice Skillet is a hearty and flavorful meal that combines ground beef, tender cabbage, and rice in a savory sauce. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup long-grain rice (white or brown)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or water)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: chopped green onions or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add Aromatics: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Incorporate Cabbage: Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook for another 5 minutes, until the cabbage starts to soften.
  4. Add Rice and Liquids: Add the rice to the skillet, followed by the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  5. Cook the Rice: Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes (for white rice) or 40 minutes (for brown rice), until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the liquid.
  6. Serve: Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired. Enjoy your delicious Beef & Cabbage Rice Skillet!
