Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 300 g (about 10 oz) beef strips (sirloin or flank steak)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, toss beef strips with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and half the soy sauce. Let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add beef strips and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until they start to brown. Remove beef from the pan.
  5. In the same pan, add onion and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  6. Return beef to the pan. Add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch slurry. Stir until the sauce thickens and coats everything. Adjust seasoning.
  7. Spoon cooked rice into bowls and top with the beef and pepper mixture.
  8. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Would you like me to make it spicy (with chili sauce or red pepper flakes) or keep it mild?
