Tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone BBQ baby back ribs are perfect for any backyard cookout or family dinner. This recipe combines a savory dry rub with a smoky, tangy barbecue sauce, ensuring every bite is packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • For the Ribs:
    • 2 racks of baby back ribs
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Dry Rub:
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under it and peeling it off. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. Apply the Dry Rub:
    • In a bowl, mix all the dry rub ingredients. Rub olive oil over both sides of the ribs, then generously coat them with the dry rub, pressing it in to ensure it sticks. Cover and let marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for more flavor.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  4. Bake the Ribs:
    • Wrap each rack of ribs in aluminum foil, sealing tightly to create a packet. Place the packets on a baking sheet and bake for 2.5–3 hours until the ribs are tender.
  5. Prepare the Grill (or Broiler):
    • Preheat your grill to medium heat, or set your oven broiler to high.
  6. Add BBQ Sauce:
    • Remove the ribs from the foil and brush them generously with BBQ sauce on both sides.
  7. Grill or Broil:
    • Grill the ribs for 5–7 minutes on each side, or broil them for 3–5 minutes per side in the oven, until the sauce caramelizes and forms a sticky glaze.
  8. Serve:
    • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then cut between the bones to separate them. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.

Enjoy your delicious BBQ baby back ribs with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans!
