Ingredients:
- For the Custard Sauce:
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the Pudding:
- 20-24 vanilla wafers
- 3 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions:
- Make the Custard Sauce:
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, and cornstarch.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks and salt.
- Gradually whisk a small amount of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks to temper them.
- Pour the tempered egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Let the custard cool slightly, then cover and refrigerate until completely chilled.
- Assemble the Pudding:
- In a serving dish, layer half of the vanilla wafers.
