Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe

Moist and delicious banana muffins loaded with chocolate chips. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened  
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract  
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-3 medium bananas)
  • 1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease the cups.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
    • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in Bananas and Milk:
    • In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
    • Add the mashed bananas and milk (or buttermilk) to the butter mixture, and mix until just combined.
  6. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Add Chocolate Chips:
    • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Fill Muffin Cups:
    • Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  9. Bake:
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the muffins cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
