Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 large ripe banana, mashed
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 – 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup softened butter
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for consistency)
Instructions
- Make the Dough:
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, melted butter, mashed banana, egg, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Punch down the dough and roll it into a 14×9-inch rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Form the Rolls:
- Starting from the long edge, roll up the dough tightly into a log.
- Cut into 12 equal rolls and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until rolls are golden brown.
- Make the Frosting:
- Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Mix in milk, a tablespoon at a time, to reach desired consistency.
- Serve:
- Spread frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!
