Baked Ziti Recipe

A classic Italian-American dish, baked ziti is a hearty and satisfying meal made with pasta, marinara sauce, and cheese, all baked to perfection. Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella, 1/4 cup Parmesan, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom.
  5. Layer half of the cooked pasta in the dish, followed by half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Pour half of the remaining marinara sauce over the top.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, ricotta mixture, and marinara sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
