Baked Vanilla Donuts with Creamy Glaze

Description

Soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet, these baked vanilla donuts are a delicious treat you can enjoy any time of the day. Unlike fried donuts, these are baked, making them lighter but still incredibly tender. The rich vanilla flavor pairs beautifully with the smooth, creamy glaze that melts over the top. They are easy to make at home and perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet snack with tea or coffee. These homemade donuts look bakery-style but require simple ingredients and minimal effort. Once you try them fresh from the oven, they will quickly become a favorite in your kitchen.

Ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Creamy Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about ¾ full.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the donuts are lightly golden and spring back when touched.
  7. Let the donuts cool for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
  8. To make the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  9. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and place them back on the rack to set.

Tips

  • Do not overmix the batter, or the donuts may become dense.
  • Use a piping bag or plastic bag with a corner cut off to easily fill the donut pan.
  • Let the donuts cool slightly before glazing so the glaze sets nicely.
  • Add sprinkles, chocolate drizzle, or crushed nuts for extra decoration.
  • Store leftover donuts in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
