Baked Potato

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly. Use a fork to poke holes in each potato to allow steam to escape.
  3. Coat with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper for a crispy skin.
  4. Bake directly on the oven rack for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the inside is soft.
  5. Check doneness by inserting a fork—it should slide in easily.
  6. Slice open and fluff the insides with a fork.
  7. Add toppings of choice and enjoy!
