Baked Onion Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions (Vidalia or sweet onions work best)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for extra flavor)
  • ¼ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, parmesan, or your choice, optional)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Onions: Peel the onions and cut them into thick slices or quarters, keeping them intact.
  3. Seasoning: Place onions in a baking dish. Drizzle with melted butter and olive oil. Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over them.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes, until onions soften.
  5. Optional: Remove foil, drizzle balsamic vinegar, and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake uncovered for another 5–10 minutes, until golden and slightly caramelized.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm as a side dish.
