Crispy, flavorful baked chicken wings that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken wings (about 12-15 wings)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for heat)
- Optional: Your favorite wing sauce (BBQ, buffalo, teriyaki, etc.)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Wings:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This is crucial for crispy skin.
- Season the Wings:
- In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss thoroughly to coat them evenly with the spice mixture.
- Arrange and Bake:
- Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Sauce (Optional):
- If using a sauce, remove the wings from the oven and transfer them to a clean bowl.
- Pour your desired sauce over the wings and toss to coat them evenly.
- If you would like to carmelize the sauce, place the sauced wings back on the baking sheet, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Serve:
- Serve the baked chicken wings immediately while they are hot and crispy.
