Ingredients
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg, separated (yolk for the filling, white for brushing)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for tang)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and lemon juice (if using) until smooth and creamy.
- Prepare the Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. Arrange the triangles on the prepared baking sheet.
- Add the Filling: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese filling onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Gently fold the sides of the dough over the filling, leaving the top slightly exposed.
- Brush with Egg White: Lightly beat the egg white and brush it over the exposed dough to give the danishes a golden color when baked.
- Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Let the danishes cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm or at room temperature.
