- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef or lamb
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ cup shredded cheese (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in mixed vegetables, tomato paste, broth, salt, pepper, and paprika. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer meat-vegetable mixture to a greased casserole dish.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top, smoothing with a spoon.
- Dot with butter and sprinkle shredded cheese (if using).
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
