Bacon Cheddar Cheese Balls Recipe

These crispy and cheesy treats are perfect for appetizers, snacks, or even a party. The combination of bacon and cheddar is a classic for a reason!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese  
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cooked bacon
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying  

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the cheddar cheese, bacon, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until evenly distributed.
  2. Form Balls: Shape the cheese mixture into 1-inch balls.
  3. Bread the Balls:
    • Dredge each ball in flour, shaking off any excess.
    • Dip each floured ball in the beaten egg.
    • Finally, roll each egg-dipped ball in the bread crumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  4. Fry the Balls: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully drop a few cheese balls at a time into the hot oil.
    • Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain and Serve: Remove the cheese balls from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.  
  6. Enjoy! Serve the warm cheese balls immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or a spicy mustard.
