Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, baked and mashed
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 sausages, cooked and crumbled (any type you prefer)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 loaf of Italian bread or a large baguette
Instructions
- Prepare the Potato Filling:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the potatoes until soft (about 45 minutes to an hour). Let them cool slightly before peeling and mashing them.
- In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy, then crumble it into small pieces. Remove excess fat.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic in a little bit of oil until soft and fragrant.
- Combine the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, crumbled bacon, cooked sausage, sautéed onion and garlic, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, butter, black pepper, paprika, and salt. Mix everything well.
- Prepare the Loaf:
- Cut a loaf of Italian bread or a large baguette lengthwise, scooping out the inside to create a hollow cavity. Be sure to leave a small amount of the bread on the edges.
- Stuff the Loaf:
- Spoon the potato mixture into the hollowed-out bread. Press down gently to ensure the filling is packed in.
- Bake:
- Place the stuffed loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Slice and serve warm as a hearty appetizer or side dish.
