A quick and delicious garlic flatbread that’s soft, flavorful, and perfect for dipping or pairing with any meal. Inspired by Turkish Pide and other soft flatbreads.
Key Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt (or milk for a lighter version)
- 1 tsp baking powder (or 1/2 tsp instant yeast if preferred)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1-2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1-2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the dough: In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder (or yeast), and salt. Add yogurt (or milk) and mix until it forms a soft dough. Knead lightly for 1-2 minutes.
- Prepare garlic butter: Mix melted butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley.
- Shape flatbreads: Divide the dough into small portions (2-4 depending on size). Roll each portion into a thin oval or round shape.
- Cook: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place a flatbread on the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and slightly puffed.
- Brush with garlic butter: Immediately brush the hot flatbread with the garlic butter mixture. Serve warm.
Tips
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some sesame seeds or nigella seeds before cooking.
- Use a rolling pin to get thin, even flatbreads for crispier edges.
- Serve with hummus, soups, or as a side with any meal.
- Can be made in advance: prepare dough and refrigerate for up to 24 hours; roll and cook when needed.
