Ingredients
- 2 ready-made pie crusts (or homemade)
- 4β5 medium apples (Granny Smith or your favorite), peeled, cored, and sliced
- Β½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for thickening)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ΒΌ tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 Β°F (190 Β°C).
- In a large bowl, toss apple slices with sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough.
- Spoon the apple filling into the crust and dot with butter pieces.
- Place the second crust on top (or make a lattice design). Seal and crimp the edges. Cut small slits in the top crust to let steam escape.
- Brush the top with the egg wash for a golden color.
- Bake for 45β55 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
