Ingredients

  • For the Filling:
    • 2 large apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 3 tbsp brown sugar
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tbsp cornstarch
    • 2 tbsp water
  • For the Egg Rolls:
    • 10 egg roll wrappers
    • 1 egg (beaten, for sealing)
    • Oil (for frying)
  • For the Topping:
    • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
    • Caramel sauce (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
    • Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well.
    • Cook until the apples soften (about 5-7 minutes).
    • Mix the cornstarch with water to form a slurry. Add it to the apple mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing toward you.
    • Add 2-3 tablespoons of the apple filling in the center.
    • Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll tightly, sealing the edges with beaten egg.
    • Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Egg Rolls:
    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
    • Fry the egg rolls in batches until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Serve:
    • Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!
