Apple Fritter Bread Recipe

Apple Fritter Bread is a delicious, moist, and flavorful quick bread, filled with chunks of fresh apples, cinnamon, and topped with a sweet glaze. This bread tastes like a classic apple fritter in loaf form, making it a perfect treat for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy fall snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • For the glaze:
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    • 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer half of the chopped apples on top, then sprinkle with half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture. Lightly press the apples into the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon mixture.
  6. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Drizzle over the cooled bread before slicing and serving.
