Apple Cider Donut Loaf with a Cinnamon Sugar Crust Recipe

This loaf cake captures the cozy flavors of fall with its warm spices, sweet apple cider, and a delightful cinnamon sugar crust. It’s perfect for a chilly morning or a cozy afternoon treat.

Ingredients:

  • For the Loaf:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour  
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon  
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger  
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted  
    • 1 large egg
    • 1/2 cup apple cider
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract  
    • 1 cup diced apples (about 1 medium apple)
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Crust:
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar  
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Loaf:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, melted butter, egg, apple cider, and vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.  
    • Fold in the diced apples.
  2. Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Crust:
    • In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Bake the Loaf:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
    • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.  
  4. Serve:
    • Slice and enjoy!
