Crispy baked or fried chicken wings coated in a creamy, homemade Alfredo sauce. Perfect for game day, parties, or a special weeknight treat.
Ingredients:
- For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings (drumettes and wingettes separated)
- 1 tbsp baking powder (for crispy baked wings) OR cooking oil for frying
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat.
- For the Alfredo Sauce:
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- Optional: a pinch of nutmeg.
- Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish.
Instructions:
- Prepare the Wings:
- Baked Wings: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Add the wings and toss to coat evenly. Arrange the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Fried Wings: Heat cooking oil in a large deep skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Add the wings and toss to coat evenly. Carefully add the wings to the hot oil, in batches, and fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the wings and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Make the Alfredo Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and nutmeg (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Combine Wings and Sauce:
- In a large bowl, pour the Alfredo sauce over the cooked chicken wings. Toss to coat them evenly.
- Serve:
- Transfer the Alfredo chicken wings to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately.
Tips and Variations:
- For extra crispy baked wings, ensure the wings are very dry before coating them with the baking powder mixture.
- Adjust the amount of Parmesan cheese to your preference. More cheese will result in a thicker, richer sauce.
- Add a splash of lemon juice to the Alfredo sauce for a touch of brightness.
- For a spicier alfredo sauce, add red pepper flakes.
- Serve with celery and carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing.
Enjoy your delicious Alfredo chicken wings!
