Ingredients
- 1 cup of uncooked rice (white, brown, or your preferred type)
- 2 cups of water
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the Rice
Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch for fluffier rice. - Measure Water and Rice
Use a 1:2 ratio of rice to water. For every cup of rice, use two cups of water. Adjust the quantity depending on how much you want to cook. - Boil Water
In a medium saucepan, bring the measured water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt if desired. - Add Rice
Once the water is boiling, stir in the rice. Lower the heat to the lowest setting and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. - Cook the Rice
Allow the rice to cook undisturbed for 18-20 minutes (for white rice) or 35-40 minutes (for brown rice). Avoid lifting the lid during this time. - Fluff and Serve
Once all the water has been absorbed, remove the saucepan from heat. Let the rice sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
