This simple dessert is made with just milk, ripe fruit, and a natural thickener like cornstarch or chia seeds — making it creamy, naturally sweet, and nourishing. It’s a perfect light treat that you can whip up in minutes using pantry and fridge basics.
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (any milk: cow’s, almond, or coconut)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (or 2 tbsp chia seeds as an alternative thickener)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 medium ripe banana, mango, or berries (any soft fruit)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
If using cornstarch:
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, cornstarch, and sweetener until smooth (no lumps).
- Place over medium heat and stir constantly until it thickens (about 3–4 minutes).
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla (if using), and let it cool slightly.
- In a blender, puree your chosen fruit.
- Mix fruit puree into the warm milk mixture.
- Pour into serving glasses or bowls and chill in the fridge for 15–20 minutes.
- Serve cold, optionally topped with fruit slices or nuts.
If using chia seeds:
- In a bowl, mix milk, chia seeds, sweetener, and vanilla.
- Let sit for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
- Add in blended fruit puree, stir well.
- Chill and serve.
Tips
- Use ripe bananas or mangoes for natural sweetness — no sugar needed.
- For extra creaminess, blend a little yogurt into the mix.
- Top with nuts, coconut flakes, or granola for added texture.
- Can be made dairy-free by using almond or oat milk.
