Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, for richer flavor)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm milk. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, beat the egg lightly, then add the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the flour and a pinch of salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it as desired — rolls, buns, or small loaves.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush with melted butter if using.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly and enjoy warm — they’re truly irresistible!
